Purpose & Principles | Episode 5 – Kristen Cox — Managing in Uncertain Times

This is a special episode to address the concerns and fears we’re facing this week. My guest today is Kristen Cox, the executive director of the Utah Governor’s Office of Management and Budget (GOMB). Appointed to the position by Governor Herbert in 2012, she has worked diligently to integrate operational excellence with the state’s management and budgeting practices. With a $20 billion dollar budget and 22,000 employees, Kristen serves in a critical role during this time of fear and uncertainty. She challenges us to focus on the things we can control, but this doesn’t mean she doesn’t have fears. As a blind person, Kristen has learned how to navigate and lead despite her fears — and she chooses to work through them — one step at a time. This is a great conversation to help us refocus on the things we can do today to move forward.
